Chelsea v Bolton team news – Alex and Ferreira to start

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has publicised his starting line-up for tonights Carling Cup match against Bolton. Despite leaving out Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, John Terry and Frank Lampard, there is still a very strong team available, especially in midfield.

Joe Cole gets another game to help build up his fitness levels, and the rest of the diamond will consist of Malouda on the left, Deco on the right, and Michael Ballack in the holding position.

Both Alex and Paulo Ferreira et their first starts of the season, alongside Ivanovic and Belletti in defence.

Hilario gets another start between the sticks, and the strikers will be Kalou and Daniel Sturridge who will be given a chance to stake their claims. It will be interesting to see if Kalou can build on his two goals against Atletico Madrid last week.

All-in-all it is a side that should comfortably be able to deal with Bolton, while giving our top stars a well-earned rest! Chelsea have won 8 out of 8 at home so far this season, and it is 25 games since they were beaten at the Bridge. Even though the team is weakened, it is unlikely that they will lose that record tonight.
