Chelsea's Conor Clifford signs for Crawley town on loan

Crawley Town have confirmed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Conor Clifford on loan until 5 January.

The 21-year old who was recently called into the Republic of Ireland squad, has previously been on loan at Portsmouth this season.

The player made 2 appearances at Portsmouth, scoring a goal in the process and Chelsea decided not to extend the loan for reasons unknown.

Conor is yet to make his senior Debut for the blues but is very highly rated by the club, and by the back-room staff of his International team.

“Chelsea rate him very highly. He will add significantly to our options,” Reds boss Richie Barker said.

“A lot of clubs were keen to sign him and we are delighted to have him with us.”

Previous manager Peter Reid who managed him at Plymouth Argyle said on his exit from the club: “I’ve got to say that, he’s been a breath of fresh air. He’s enthusiastic, presses the ball, and has been our leader for such a young man while Fletcher has been out injured; a tremendous character.”

Its good to see the young man shipped out for some first-team football, and I hope the young player can live up to his enormous potential. Good luck at Crawley Conor.
