Chelsea are set to offer Juan Mata a lucrative five-year deal, in the hope of keeping the Spaniard for the long-term.
Juan Mata has been outstanding for Chelsea since his arrival 18 months ago, and has been Chelsea’s best player so far this season, scoring many important goals, and getting many assists in the process.
Mata is the ideal attacking midfielder. He can play out wide or through the middle, he is deadly at free-kicks, has a great understanding with his team-mates and can see the ball he wants to play before the run has even been made.
The Spaniard joined Chelsea from Valencia for £23.5million and has been worth every penny! In his first season at the club he won the Champions League and the FA Cup, and never seems to play a bad game.
Reports are suggesting that Mata will be offered £100k a week to sign an extension to his contract, a wage he has earned in my eyes.
Mata has proved he can handle the physicality of the Premier League, and seems to be enjoying his football. Juan has become an instant hit at Stamford Bridge, and Blues fans will celebrate tying the Spaniard to a new long-term deal.
Juan Mata has been Chelsea’s best signing since since we bought Didier Drogba back in 2004, and I’ll be very happy when his new contract gets signed officially. I hope he stays until he is Frank Lampard’s age. Does anybody disagree that Mata has been our best player so far this term? I think not…
