Chelsea's Lukaku wants Hawthorns stay

On-loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, is hoping not to be recalled come January, with Chelsea currently looking into their striking options.

Romelu Lukaku has just scored his fifth league goal of the season on the 45 minute mark against Swansea, who are currenty 3-1 up against his temporary club, West Brom. This goal brings his tally one above Chelsea lone striker, Fernando Torres.

West Brom currently lie third in the Premier League, with Chelsea in fourth. Chelsea have not won a league game in over a month and Torres has failed to score in nearly two months.

The Belgian signed for Chelsea in the summer of 2011, and was one of the brightest prospects in Europe at the time, earning the title of the ‘new Drogba’. Lukaku, 19, is widely expected to become a top striker but has yet to make his mark at Stamford Bridge.

When asked about leaving West Brom in the January transfer window he said: “I don’t think about the option. I am very happy to be here for one year,”

“Hopefully, this season will end very well and we will see what happens in the future.

He was then asked if he thought Rafa Benitez would like to bring him back to Chelsea come January, he replied: ‘I don’t think things will change. I think he has his plans and I am happy with the team here.

‘If I focus too much on Chelsea it wouldn’t be good for me, so I will focus on being here.

‘In my head, I am here for a year and it has to be clear I am here for a year and not for six months.’

It is great to see Romelu playing well and scoring goals, and if Chelsea can’t buy a proven goalscorer come January then I firmly expect Lukaku to return. Sturridge has been riddled by injury this season and there has been no replacement for the dire Torres. We need strength in depth.

Do you blame Romelu?? Who would want to be part of the Circus surrounding C.F.C. I have supported Chelsea for 40 years, and have always been a proud supporter, that is, until now…for the first time ever, I am genuinely loosing my interest in the fascicle surrounding my club. Roman/Torres can leave!! Let’s get some form of identity back.
