Chris Foy will take charge of the Chelsea V Manchester City match this weekend, the first time he has officiated a Chelsea match since their visit to Loftus Road when John Terry, who misses this weekends game through injury, allegedly racially abused Anton Ferdinand.
The match was in October of last year and the referee was heavily criticised by the then Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas after the match, saying ‘I’m very disappointed with Chris’s performance. With nine players we kept our emotions very well.
‘Chris and his team managed to play an emotional game and they conceded to the crowd and committed tremendous mistakes.’
In the match, Foy awarded QPR a 10th minute penalty, which they scored, and then gave red cards to both Jose Bosingwa and Didier Drogba in the 1-0 home win for QPR.
This weekend´s game will be a big milestone for both Chris Foy, as well as Rafa Benitez, who will no doubt be expecting a tough Chelsea crowd after his rough past as Ex-Chelsea rival, Liverpool City´s manager.
