Most Chelsea fans will tell you if the club wants to win the Premier league or the Champions league this season or even both, they need to keep Morata fit for the bulk of the season. Although the Blues have in their ranks Michy Batshuayi who cost the club a lot of money, they still could do with the signing of another quality striker. Chelsea news roundup in the last one week has seen the club linked with the signing of different players in different positions but most Chelsea fans will find news of a striker signing much more interesting for obvious reasons.
When Morata was injured, Chelsea struggled to score goals and this is despite having Batshuayi to replace the former Real Madrid star. This is why it is not so surprising that Chelsea are being linked with the January signing of Lazio striker Ciro Immobile. The Italian has of the time of writing this article scored 18 goals and created six assists in all competition for Lazio so far this season. 14 goals and 8 assists of this came in the Serie A.
For a player playing in a league as defensive as the Serie to have scored 14 goals and created six assists with just 11 matches player, is quite impressive. He has been linked with several clubs both in Europe and Asian which is testament to how well he has performed after his struggles with Dortmund and Sevilla ( on loan from Dortmund ).
Lazio have reportedly turned down a bid of £60million from a Chinese club for the player which means Chelsea may have to top that if they really want to sign the player. And this for me is where the player likes. Immobile has certainly done well so far this season, but in my humble opinion, he is not a £60million player.
Rather than signing Immobile for £60million I honestly believe Chelsea will be well served to sign Aubamayang who will unfortunately be cuptied in the Champions league or Mauro Icardi. Both players are more established and much more experienced than the Italian.
Another player Chelsea can move for is Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez. Imagine Hazard on the right, Sanchez on the left and Morata as top nine or Hazard on the right, Sanchez as top nine and Pedro/Willian on the left. And the good thing is the Chilean won’t be so expensive since Arsenal will be desperate to sell him rather than lose him on a free transfer next summer.
