Chelsea’s plan to sign Benfica defender Fabio Coentrao is definitely not going ahead after the Portuguese player decided to sign with La Liga side Real Madrid.
According to TalkSport Radio the defender has signed a contract with Madrid and has been sold for £27 million.
The 23-year-old has become of Benfica’s star players since he broke through into the first team in 2009. He also put in some notable performances for his country during the World Cup.
It had previously been reported that Coentrao stormed out of a training session after he learned that Benfica had accepted an offer for him from Chelsea. He had his heart set on a move to Real Madrid. But Madrid were initially not prepared to meet Benfica’s asking price.
The transfer is all set to go through as long as Coentrao passes a medical test and Chelsea will now have to think about other options for strengthening their defence.
Well let him go b4 him there were great leftbacks and definitely after him there will be great leftbacks that will sign 4 us. Up Blues!!!
Cole is staying, we don’t need Coentrao. This is a load of bollocks anyway. Chelsea were never interested, we didn’t bid.
let him go blues dont need him. i know sooner or later madrid will dump him n look for a better leftback better than him cos stars r born everyday and madrid needs the best only then he’ll regret ever going there..up blues as ever as always.
Oh my God, Coentrao should learn different style on how to sit in the bench. I’m sure
