Confirmed – £100,000-A-Week UCL Winner Deal Almost Done To Chelsea

Roman Abramovich

Sunday’s evening clash between rivals, Chelsea and Liverpool ended in a goal apiece for both teams. The match wasn’t a decider for the EPL winners, but Liverpool needed a win to increase their chances of a UEFA Champions League spot, and much spectacularly, a legend of Anfield was being bade goodbye. One who has a couple of history with the blues, and who could have once adorned the blue Jersey. Gerrard was almost signed by Chelsea in 2004 by Mourinho, but he chose to stay at his childhood club, and he is set to end his long spell with the club when the season ends.

Gerrard went ahead to end his last Chelsea visit with a goal, but it wasn’t enough to avenge for last season’s last game at the Stamford bridge. A win at the bridge for the visitors would have handed them the league, one major trophy that eluded the club’s skipper all through his career. Mourinho was full of praises for Steven before the match,

“My dear enemy, he has made me a better manager because to stop him has been very difficult. I tried to bring him to Chelsea, I tried to bring him to Inter, I tried to bring him to Real Madrid but he was always with the enemy. I want to honour him and I hope Stamford Bridge has the same feeling. It’s too late to sign him . He can’t play against Liverpool . He’s done an amazing career with his people. He refused to play in other big clubs, other big leagues to play only for Liverpool and this is a feeling that stays together. Who knows If I will play against Steven as a Liverpool manager someday”

The special one had hoped the midfield maestro was going to be a special signing at Chelsea. The pair of Lampard and him in the heart of the Stamford bridge midfield was a dream that never came true for Mourinho.

“I always thought that both were the best two number eights in Europe,” says the Portuguese.

“In my opinion and my vision with them you don’t play a number 10, you play with one number six and give the freedom to the two number eights because they score more goals than any number 10. So Lampard with 30 goals a season from midfield and Gerrard with 25, they score more goals together than a No 10 and the striker.”
