In the last few weeks, there have been reports in the English and German media of Chelsea been interested in re-signing Kevin De Bruyne. According to the reports, the Blues have continued to monitor the progress of the high rated German even after sanctioning his sale to Wolfsburg.
Aside Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool were reported to be interested in signing the player but since he was a Chelsea player, it is thought Jose Mourinho has a better chance of getting him ahead of the chasing pack.
However, if quotes attributed to the player’s agent are anything to go by, Chelsea may be signing the player this summer. Talking to Skysports German, Patrick De Koster one of Kevin De Bruyne’s representative was quoted to have said;
‘This could be his last season at Wolfsburg,’ De Koster said on the Sky Sports website.
‘Currently the only club we have talked to regarding his future is the German side (Wolfsburg).’
If this quote are actually true and not that of an agent trying to get an improved contract for his client, it means Wolfsburg has given up hope of retaining their player and should that be the case, Chelsea will have a good chance of signing the player.
Kevin De Bruyne who Chelsea sold for £18 million in the summer of 2013 has scored a total of 14 goals and provided 22 assists. It is believed a bid in the region of £25 million would get Chelsea the player.
With the future of Willian, Oscar and Ramires in doubt, Chelsea would do well to re-sign De Bruyne especially now that he seem to have matured into a better player. Should Chelsea re-sign him, Blues world wide will hope he will have the same impact as Matic did.
