Former England manager Fabio Capello has been speaking to the press in Italy about many things which includes Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and the reelected premier minister David Cameron. The Italian who now coaches the Russian national team was speaking to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport for the paper’s Saturday’s edition.
When asked to speak about the dwindling condition of the Italian football, the former Real Madrid manager spoke about how just less than five months ago Chelsea’s January signing Juan Cuadrado was regarded one of the best players in the Serie A but has struggled for playing time with Chelsea in the premier league while Chelsea’s Mohammed Salah who is on a full season loan spell with Fiorentina has taken the league by storm. Capello thinks the fortunes of both players in both the premier league and serie A is a clear indication of the golf in quality between both leagues.
“Cuadrado at Fiorentina looked a phenomenon, then moved to Chelsea and has not played. This story seems exemplary to indicate the current status of our Serie A.”
Although we at Just Chelsea agree the Serie A is no longer what it used to be, but we sincerely believe Capello has been a little harsh on the league. This is especially true if you consider the strength of the clubs from Italy in the Europa league this season and how well they have performed so far.
Also, it is important to note that Cuadrado only moved in the winter and without pre-season with his current team mates, he is bound to struggle while Salah was never a bad player when he left Chelsea, he was just not given enough first team berth to be able to express himself on the field of play.
