Yesterday reports had Gonzalo Higuain heading to Manchester United, but today, reports have emerged of Chelsea holding talks with the former Real Madrid forward with the blues looking to capture his signature. Reports from Carlo Mercato Web reveals that Mourinho is willing to part with the sum of €40 million to get his man. With Didier Drogba leaving this summer, while Diego Costa and Loic Remy struggling with injury and form respectively, there is indeed an urgent need for Mourinho to shore up his attack force.
With Rafa Benitez heading to Real Madrid, there is all possibility that Higuain himself might be disposed to seeking a new challenge elsewhere and he is certainly not short of suitors. The forward already announced himself to the world while at Real Madrid, scoring 107 goals in 190 league appearances before making the switch to Napoli, where he has scored 35 goals in 69 league appearances which means he averages 2 goals in a match. These are impressive stats for a player and Chelsea can certainly not do better than him. Pairing him alongside Diego Costa will be a delight to watch.
Should Chelsea sign him, then there is cover for any eventuality of Costa suffering a relapse of his hamstring injury. Either way, Higuain would be a hit at Chelsea.
