New signing Thibaut Courtios has only been a Chelsea player for a matter of days, but already the goalkeeper is on the move.
Courtios, 19, was signed from Belgian side Genk on a five year contract, but he will spend next season on loan at Atletico Madrid in La Liga. The keeper still sees his long term future at Chelsea though, and he has had the following to say on his latest move to Spain.
“Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world at the moment and gave me the opportunity first to be loaned to another team and then to come back and maybe play there. It will be a wonderful possibility to play for one of the best teams in the world. That is the reason why I chose Chelsea.”
Courtios is seen as a long term replacement for Petr Cech, and he cant wait for the day when he will finally get the opportunity to train along side the current Chelsea number one. He said, “I am happy the other day that I could speak with Petr Cech and also I can play at the same club as him in the future because he is one of my idols”
He may well only be 19, but Courtios has already been rewarded with his first call up to the Belgium Senior squad, though he may have to wait a little longer yet to earn his first call up to the Chelsea one.
