Decision on Scott Parker coming shortly….

Last Thursday Chelsea made an enquiry about Scott Parker, and the possibility of taking the midfielder on a season long loan deal, but West Ham wanted a down payment of £4.5million and the players wages covered, but Parker has made it clear he does not want a loan move.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has now stepped in and a final decision will be made on the England International by the end of the week, according to reports in the press today.

If a move does take place Chelsea are prepared to offer £7.5miilion for the 30-year-old, but they will face stiff competition from Aston Villa if they are to secure Parker’s signature.

The question that many Chelsea supporters are asking is do they really need a player like Parker in their squad? He may well fill the gap left by the injured Michael Essien, but he should be back by Christmas. Also would Chelsea be able to get full value out of a player like Parker, a player that has had injury problems in the past, and there would be little or no chance of recouping any transfer fee that they would have to pay.

According to The Daily Mirror Abramovich will make a decision this week, but surely that decision should be made by manager Andre Villas-Boas. The transfer merry-go round. Don’t you just love it!

i don’t think we need a player like parker. he has had his fair share of injuries in the past and i think he is past his prime.we should be targeting younger players- i honestly feel we are slacking in the market.
