The Chelsea striker Didier Drogba became the ninth player to score more than 100 goals for the team recently, which was celebrated yesterday on DROGBA DAY, and he intends to carry on going until he reaches 200 at least, which is just two goals short of Bobby Tamblings record at the head of the all-time scoring table.
‘I will go on scoring goals for sure and by the grace of God I want to achieve 200 goals for Chelsea. If I’m in good health and don’t have any injuries I believe I can do it.
‘I want to do it with some trophies around me and around us, the Champions League especially and the Premier League as well. It’s important for me, for my friends and the club.
‘I believe I have been helped by starting my career so late,’ added Drogba, who signed his first professional contract at 21. ‘I feel young in my body even though I’m 31 and I want to run. I’m not tired.
‘That’s why I say I will do everything to score 200 goals for Chelsea.’
Drogba has already scored 8 goals from 11 starts this season, and with Chelsea in devastating form, he should have every chance to become the leagues top scorer this year.
Frank Lampard is still above him in 5th place though, so as Drogba moves up the table, I am sure that Frankie will too!
It could lead to an interesting race in a couple of years time if they are both still going!
