Diego Costa Desperate To Play Against Crystal Palace

As Chelsea nears winning the title after it had eluded them for the past five years, they hope to seal it with a win over Crystal palace on Sunday. The blues are clearly on top with 80 points from 34 matches, with 2nd placed Manchester City trailing them with 13 points. The league is just 4 matches away from completion, and a victory in Sunday’s match guarantees them first position. It is in that euphoria of winning that Diego Costa, the highest goal scorer in the team with 19 goals, hopes to be part of the team that makes history on the pitch by Sunday.

He was a doubtful option when the blues visited the Emirates last Sunday, and was also missing when the team picked up 3 points against Leicester City during the week. A hamstring injury has kept him out of action since April 4 during the match against Stokes. His debut season in the EPL has been plagued with frequent injuries, just like with his final moments in Atletico Madrid. Although Coach Mourinho has expressed concerns over his fitness, and says he won’t be risking him if he isn’t fit enough to play. The Spaniard is however willing to play.

In case he doesn’t feature in the match, and Chelsea still needs points to secure the trophy after the encounter, Mourinho says the striker will play the next match against Liverpool. But in case of a victory on Sunday, the Coach wouldn’t bother fielding him in the next match. His high proneness to injury has made him enter a rehabilitation program structured to strengthening his hamstring. The hamstring has had recurring problems all season long, and it is hoped that the break will help him with a solution in order to prevent similar problems in the coming season.
