When Mario Pasalic was signed from Hajduk Split at the beginning of the season, his arrival to Chelsea came with a lot of hype. Having been discovered by Chelsea’s technical director, Michael Emenalo – who is known to be a perfectionist who only goes for the best always, the 20 year-old was tipped to perform up to great expectations. But within 3 weeks of his 3 million pound-move, he was loaned off to Spanish side, Elche. With a promise to be brought back to Stamford bridge if he does incredibly well.
It has been a season already, and the Croatian international has impressed at the La Liga, and is headed back to England. Chelsea has kept in touch with him while at Elche, and they have been impressed at his progress thus far. But first team action isn’t guaranteed right now in the star-studded Chelsea side, and the central midfielder will just have to go on another loan. Serie A side, Lazio have already contacted Chelsea, with the hopes of buying the player. Chelsea rather want to sell him for 15 million Euros which will include a buy-back option.
But prior to any loan term, Pasalic will be signing another contract with Chelsea. The player himself confirmed this.
“Given the intensity of communication (with Chelsea), I’m optimistic that in late May I’ll go to London for a new deal with Chelsea.”
Mourinho is said to be very keen of the player, and that has increased his all-round worth as a prospective transfer-target all around Europe. Elche are letting go because of their financial issues, and a worthy club will definitely be ready to snatch him up. Whichever club he ends up with will definitely be a good deal for Chelsea, as much quick profit will be made on the player.
