If you believe the report on Metro newspaper’s website this morning, Chelsea are edging close to signing a replacement for soon to depart Chelsea legend Didier Drogba. According to reports, Drogba is set to leave Chelsea in the summer with MLS the possible destination. And to replace Drogba, Chelsea want Burnley’s Danny Ings this much we report yesterday but if you believe Metro, the deal is at advanced stage.
22-years old Danny Ings has scored a total of 9 goals in 33 games so far this season and could be signed by Chelsea or any other club for as little as £3 million pounds if you believe reports in the English media.
According to the reports, aside Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Italian serie A side Juventus are interested in signing the player. Should Metro be right and Chelsea should end up signing the player, they will be saving a lot of money. It is not everyday you get a good striker worth £20 million available for just £3 million.
With Drogba likely to leave in the summer, Chelsea could do with another striker signing to cover for Diego Costa and Loic Remy when their normal injury problems arises or to cover for them when they need to be rested.
