Chelsea are reportedly favuorite’s to sign Colombian international striker Jackson Martinez from Atletico Madrid, claims bookmaker Ladbrokes.
The 29 year old striker moved to the la liga giants from Porto in the summer of 2015, but has found life in Spain difficult having failed to adapt to Diego simeone’s style of play. He has scored just 2 goals in 12 la liga appearances, he started only in 7 of the 12 appearances.
With rumors circulating that Chelsea are interested in the striker (Martinez) and have been monitoring his situation, The towering Colombian’s agent, Henrique Pompeo had to admitted to As (Espn) that the blues are interested in his client, but insisted that Martinez was happy at Atletico Madrid. Though he eventually admitted that anything is possible in the future.
With those revelations, Ladbrokes has backed Jackson Martinez at 3/1 to complete the transfer to Stamford Bridge in this January transfer window and backed the striker (Martinez) to join Totten Ham at 5/1 in coming weeks, which is slightly above Chelsea.
Chelsea’s struggles this season have warranted their urgent need for a top striker this January transfer window. The Chelsea strike force of Costa Remy and Falcao have performed extremely poor this season, Diego Costa has 5 league goals, Falcao has 1, and Remy has 2, which is a very poor return considering the fact that as of this time last season Diego Costa has scored more goals than the 3 have scored at the same stage this season.
And the Stamford bridge club have looked to the former Porto man and will hope to lure him from la liga.
