Chelsea have suffered greatly this season and find themselves struggling to leave the relegation zone at least. This has been blamed largely on the lack of quality strikers for the team which has cost them greatly so far this season.
Even with three strikers in the team, the goals have just not been coming.
The Blues have now turned their attention on Atletico Madrid striker and Colombian international Jackson Martinez and the player’s agent Henrique Pompei has confirmed this as he said, “Jackson wants to succeed at Atletico, but it’s the club who will decide his future.” “I can’t say [Chelsea’s interest] is a lie, this is football and no-one knows what will happen in the future.”
Although the 29-year-old striker has struggled at Atletico Madrid since joining for a huge fee of £25.8m from Portuguese side Porto.
Reports are stating that Atletico manager Diego Simeone wants Martinez to go on loan this season but Pompei is claiming the player wants a permanent move elsewhere.
This might mean that the Blues will have to sell off striker Loic Remy to make room for the striker and to balance the books at Stamford Bridge.
It remains to be seen if the new manager will sign him and quickly or let him go.
