Essien – Liverpool win proves Chelsea mean business this season

The Chelsea and Ghana midfield Michael Essien thinks that yesterdays win over Liverpool, a team that Chelsea lost to twice last season, proves that his team have the quality to go all the way this season.

“A game against Liverpool is always difficult, they are one of the main title contenders so it is good to win against them,” he said.

“To take three points from them is very good.

“The game was hard but taking three points was a must because Manchester United lost two points at home on Saturday night.

“It is a good day for us and that will give us confidence for the rest of the title run-in.

“Last season we did not do well against them so it is good to let them know we mean business this season.”

And it was a brilliant riposte to last weeks defeat at Wigan!
