Colombian sensation Radamel Falcao has spoken to reporters about Chelsea FC this week, and the possibility of playing in the Premier League, fuelling speculation that a move could be in the pipeline.
Latest rumour circulating is that a possible Cash-plus-Fernando Torres deal could be offered to the Europa League champions, a move which would pair Torres with the club he played for as a youth.
Falcao was quoted for saying: “Chelsea are champions of Europe and there is not much more to say than that.
“Even after winning the Champions League they still go and sign players of the highest quality. Their ambition is clear.
“I was also a big fan of Gianfranco Zola when I was growing up.”
The Athletico Madrid goal-scorer went on to talk of the possibility of playing in the Premier League: “I would not be worried about the physical aspect of the Premier League, I have scored goals in Argentina, Portugal and now Spain.”
“I am confident I can adapt my game to any league. I would welcome the challenge of the Premier League.
“I have watched the Premier League for a long time. There is so much quality and it is such an exciting league. Of course it is nice to think I might play in it.”
And how exciting is the prospect of Chelsea buying the player who single-handedly destroyed our chance of winning the European Super Cup? and even the prospect of us finally getting rid of Fernando Torres in the process? I´m excited!
Getting rid of Torres doesn’t solve the biggest problem that there is almost no competition at that position. With Sturridge hurt for most of the beginning of the season, Torres didn’t have much reason to push himself and he fell into a rhythm that is still better than Danny’s overall but not good enough to warrant a start 100% of the time. We need more strikers and adding Falcao (or anyone else with some skill equal to or better than Sturridge) is what is necessary to push all of them to their best and most prolific moments.
