The Premier League season is gradually coming to an end, and already the Blues have been tipped as favourites by most people to lift the trophy. Chelsea have been magnificent this season with the addition of Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa to the team, they have played some breath taking football at times, but towards the end of the season, the Blue train seem to have been slowing down, somewhat limping to the finishing line.
Not playing as well as they could, they still manage to get the needed results and analyst would say that’s the sign of a Champion. But what would worry the Blues more would be Thibaut Courtois’s drop in form of late, his mistakes against Hull City and Stoke City have ensure Chelsea have had to work extra hard to turn draws to wins. However, yours truly still believe the blues will be crowned champion at the end of the season and here is why;
1. Mourinho’s Experience;
The experience of Jose Mourinho cannot be swept under the carpet, having won the League with all Clubs he has Coached, the Portuguese knows how to win.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is not known to throw away a lead, and with the Blues now sitting six-points clear of their next nearest rivals with a game-in-hand, it is hard to imagine Chelsea not having already locked up the League title. This is especially so, after being knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain leaving the club free to focus their attention on winning the Premiership title.
2. The Teams Quality;
The only thing Chelsea have suffered from this season, is their lack of depth, something that looked responsible for their early UEFA Champions League exit. Chelsea have a very strong starting eleven, but their bench can’t match their first team and this has led to the tiredness of some players and also the drop in form of players like Oscar and Fabregas.
But in Mourinho, they have a manager who can make dry woods play for him and with a solid first team, who look tired, he has been able to man manage them and give some key players the needed break when he can.
3. Too Big a gap;
With Manchester City not playing well, suddenly the 6 point gap opened up by Chelsea look very huge, coupled with the fact that the blues have a game in hand, not mathematically impossible, but looks very difficult to overturn.
4. Loic Remy Impact;
Under used this season, but whenever called upon, Remy has always given his best for Chelsea. Remy’s course have not been helped by the fact that Diego Costa has been so good and Mourinho prefers to play with one striker up front. Even after his winning goal against Hull City, Jose Mourinho said he feels at times for Remy because he deserves more than he probably have been given at Chelsea.
With two match winning goals in as many games for Chelsea, and with Diego Costa struggling with his hamstring, the Frenchman has become a very important player for Chelsea, as he would likely start most of the remaining games with Costa likely to be out for up to one month.
