Frankie pleased but Zhirkov's not very happy!

Frank Lampard equalled Jimmy Greaves record of goals scored for Chelsea the other night, but is more concerned about winning trophies with the Blues than getting personal accolades. He is now up to joint fifth with Greaves in the Chelsea records, and i am sure he will carry on climbing in the next few seasons.

He said today: “I’m delighted with that, Jimmy is a goalscoring legend and I’m sure he did it in a lot less games than I did.

“I’m very pleased to be up there with him and just want to keep on scoring goals for Chelsea, especially important ones that help us win games.

“Personal achievements are nice, but not as important as silverware. I’m much more proud of winning Premier Leagues and FA Cups with Chelsea.”

But new signing Yuri Zhirkov is not happy. Apparently rumours have been circulating in Russia that his injury is more serious than it is and he was going to need surgery that could keep him out of the game for a while. But he vigorously denied this yesterday. “I don’t know who spread these rumours, but they don’t correspond to reality,” he said.

“My condition has improved and the doctors say that in two or three days I will be able to return to training, although not fully. I’ll work on an individual program.

“All will be clear after an examination on Thursday. I was feeling pain and noticeably limping when running, but now that’s behind me. I just need to tone up the leg.”

He is aiming for the game against Burnley on the 29th August to be fit enough to make his eagerly awaited debut. so we will all be keeping our fingers crossed for him.
