Goalkeeper Petr Cech has been injured in training and will miss the next two weeks at least, but at worst he could be out for up to four weeks.
Cech will definitely miss games against West Brom and Norwich, but he could also miss the games against Sunderland and Manchester United. If he is out for four weeks he will also miss the important Euro 2012 qualifier for his country, The Czech Republic, against Scotland at Hampden Park, and there is also the possibility he will miss the opening Champions League group game on 13th or 14th of September.
When asked about the injury to his keeper manager Andre Villas-Boas said. “Cech fell awkwardly with his weight on top of him. We expected much worse when we saw the incident. It was the end of training, a normal training incident.”
Either Ross Turnbull or Hilario will deputise for Cech with the other taking their place on the bench. AVB refused to be drawn about who he would prefer. All he said was, “We will make a full decision on the goalkeeper on Friday.”
I would like to see Turnball given his chance, but it is expected that Hilario will be given the nod for the game against West Brom on Saturday as he has deputised for Cech in the past.
Hilario is okay BOSS AVB,,,
