Griezmann To Chelsea Transfer: Almost A Done Deal

Although Chelsea will have to forfeit some players and other purported incoming-transfers for the signature of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, they will be going ahead anyway, as it seems the 24 year-old France international is number 1 on their scale of preference for the summer transfer window. The club has placed top priority on signing a striker towards the coming season, and they are ready to make some other sacrifices to do this.

The Atletico striker has been on the Blues watch-list for the past few weeks following amazing displays in the Atletico Madrid shirt in just his first season at the Spain capital. The versatile striker who can play any of the forward positions has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season. Though they weren’t enough to secure the La Liga title once more, but they were no doubt instrumental for the fair amount of success recorded at the Vicente Calderon this season. Chelsea are hoping he will reproduce such form and ability to finish in front of goal when he gets to the squad next season.

Griezmann wants a Chelsea move all of a sudden after Portuguese agent, Jorge Mendes took over negotiations. The Rojiblancos once increased his buyout clause to 43.5 million, and they want a raise again in order to make him stay, but that looks rather too late. The France international is on his way to become the 3rd signing from Atletico to Chelsea in recent times.

With this deal, Chelsea will have to let go of Brazilian playmaker, Oscar and probably not sign Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling. Financial fair play will be put into consideration once Griezmann is acquired. The club has kept tab on Sterling’s situation at Liverpool and desire to have him at their side. Oscar has been great this season, but it doesn’t seem Chelsea will hesitate to sacrifice his departure for the hot Antoine Griezmann.
