The Turkey coach Guus Hiddink has revealed that he would consider taking over as manager at Stamford Bridge yet again, but also revealed that the Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was yet to make a “concrete offer”.
Hiddink has a crucial Euro Qualifier against Belgium coming up next Friday, and if Turkey lose the game then there is every chance that Hiddink will be relieved of his duties immediately. He admitted: “If we lose I can imagine they’d say it would be better for me to quit.”
Although the media has assumed that Hiddink was Abramovich’s favourite to take over from Carlo Ancelotti, Hiddink said that he had not actually been offered the position yet.
He said: “There is a lot of speculation about Chelsea. But if there was a concrete offer, I would think about it.”
So, does that mean that Abramovich has a different favourite for the job this time? Surely he must have a successor in mind after sacking Ancelotti so quickly after Chelsea’s last game of the season….
