Chelsea in loan star to Hibernian Islam Feruz is set for a termination of his contract with the Scottish side in favour of a move to a Championship side, this is according to reports.
The 20-year-old Scotland international joined Chelsea in the summer of 2011 after rejecting offers from Celtic. He has been loaned to several clubs since he completed the £300,000 move with the latest being Hibernian.
The diminutive striker has been unhappy over his situation since joining the hibs as he has been reduced to a fringe player. He has not started any game this term for the club.
The coach of the Scottish club had hinted that the player could leave if he so desires.
‘If he decides that he wants to go back to Chelsea then that will be his decision, but my preferred option would be for him to stay and fight for his place,’ said Stubbs.
‘If he goes back it will be not through ourselves. We are not looking at anyone leaving, but I can understand that Izzy [Feruz] would have liked more game time. ‘I have tried to mix it here and there when I could without affecting the balance of the team too much.’
The purpose for sending players out on loan is to get adequate playing time to aid their development. In the even where the playing doesn’t play regularly, he should be recalled.
Several clubs are including Mk Dons, Brentford, Leeds, Rotherham and Charlton are on the players case.
