Faltering Premier League champions Chelsea have again been linked with another Everton defender in right-back Seamus Coleman after the John Stones saga, which marred the summer transfer window.
The 4-time Premier League champions have identified Republic of Ireland international Coleman as the man to bring solidity to their fragile backline having conceded an outrageous 27 goals in just 17 games in the English Premier League this season.
Coleman, 27, has established himself as one of the best right-sided defenders in England since joining Merseyside club Everton from Irish side Sligo Rovers in 2009.
2013/14 has been his best season till date in the colours of Everton after he scored six times in the league and was named Everton’s Players of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year as well as in the Premier League team of the Year.
A move to Chelsea will represent a big step up for Seamus Coleman, one he is expected to relish giving his excellent technical and mental attributes.
