According to daily mail, 2010 European champions Inter Milan are looking to add another former European champion to their ranks after the purchase of Nemanja Vidic from Manchester United on a free transfer. This time it is Chelsea and Spain striker Fernando Torres. Many Inter Milan fans will still remember him as he scored in both legs as Liverpool knocked out the Italian giants in the second round of the Champions League in 2008.
Inter are currently 5th in the Serie A but are a massive 10 points behind Napoli who occupy the final champions league place which means should Torres join them as Daily mail are claiming, he will not be playing the champions league next season.
In my opinion, given that Daily mail is not such a reliable source for football transfer related news and because it is very difficult to see Torres wanting a move to Italy at this stage of his career I’d say, NO Chance of a deal happening.
Torres will most likely be surplus to requirements at Chelsea next summer, given Chelsea’s struggle for goals this term and their well documented search for a new striker to help Lukaku (who I believe will be at the club next season) with the goal scoring burden of the club next season but I don’t see him favouring a move to Italy especially as he is likely to have other choices.
He has always said he would love a return to his homeland most preferably to Athletico Madrid. Another reason why I do not see him going to Inter is because they not very stable financially at the moment and I doubt they can afford Torres’ wages.
In my opinion, Inter will continue their overhauling but they may have to do it without Fernando Torres because it will take something extra ordinary to get Torres and at the moment, Inter are not capable of the extra ordinary especially when they are likely to compete with Athletico Madrid.
