As the special one has allayed fears over a possible loan term for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, the coach has declared that he rather needs stability, and not a loan.
“It is not the case, but imagine Ruben’s family or agent pushing the kid to go – ‘The kid has to go on loan.’ Imagine that picture. That’s not what he needs. In this moment, he needs stability. He played against Liverpool [starting, and lasting an hour last Sunday]. He’s going to play against West Bromwich (already played). Next season, he starts with us and is stable because he’s part of the squad. He’s not trying to win a position in it. He’s part of it. He’s not going on loan and he knows that.”
With Chelsea’s norm of constantly loaning out young players, who despite being brilliant don’t get enough playing time with the first team, concerns have been raised over the future of the 19 year-old RLC. Having appeared just thrice for the club’s main side all season long, there have been suggestions from close quarters if a loan will do. But the coach says he is staying. His League debut came during the draw against Liverpool. And after 1 hour of action, he had made 100% complete passes, won 17% of his tackles and made 3 interceptions. It doesn’t come any better for a teenager in his debut game in the EPL.
Although he has been spectacular with the Chelsea youth side, they have won the F.A cup and the youth Champions League. Save for skipper John Terry, no member of the youth side has recorded much success for Chelsea in recent times. But with more stability right at the Stamford bridge, Mourinho believes the likes of Izzy Brown, Ruben and Dominic Solanke can excel and break the jinx while staying with the senior squad.
