In the last few days, there has been numerous reports of Roman Abramovich sanctioning a new four years contract for manager Jose Mourinho. According to reports, The Portuguese is set to sign a new contract worth £10.5m per year. However, according to Mourinho himself, the reports are far from the truth.
Mourinho said: “I don’t need a contract.
“Mr Abramovich needs to be very calm. I am in his hands. I want to stay, I don’t want to leave. I am not asking for a better contract. I am very, very calm. He doesn’t need to be worried, he has me.
“If he wants me to stay, I’m staying. When he wants me to leave, I leave. I know he wants me next season because I am working. A ten-year contract is not important.”
Considering how well Mourinho has performed for Chelsea both in terms of winning things and in the transfer market, I think it is just wise if Roman Abramovich allows him to stay and I sincerely do not see why he will not be allowed to extend his deal.
Mourinho is building a great team for Chelsea and with consistency and the right transfer deals, Chelsea can be a force to be reckoned with in the premier league and in Europe.
