The summer transfer window is now open, and the rumors are flying. Chelsea has been linked to some of the biggest names in the football world, most notably Paul Pogba, Gareth Bale, Radamel Falcao, and Antoine Griezmann, but Metro is now reporting something new and very interesting. Napoli striker, Gonzalo Higuain, is to choose between Arsenal and Chelsea this summer, with both Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wegner willing to pay upwards of £29million.
Higuain is a 27 year old, Argentine international, and played under Mourinho at Real Madrid from 2010, to 2013. He stands at 6 feet, which is not very tall, and he is not very fast, but he is one of the most clinical finishers in the world. He can only play as a striker, and would be an incredible backup to Diego Costa. But one problem stands in the way, and that is Radamel Falcao.
Falcao has been linked to Chelsea since his days at Atletico Madrid. Now, he is being linked for heavily than ever. After a failed loan spell at Manchester United, he stated that he is eager to stay in England and prove he can score goals in the Premier League. He is now 29 years of age, and will be looking to win trophies, making playing under Mourinho even more admirable. It has been reported by virtually every media outlet, including Sky Sports, and Di Marzio, two of the most reliable sources in football.
If Higuain signs, it would be a multi-year deal. Falcao could be on loan, with an option to buy next season, very similar to the deal he had at Manchester United. That is because of Dom Solanke, Izzy Brown, and Patrick Bamford. All three are very gifted players, and have a great chance to break through and make it into Chelsea’s first team. Higuain would put an end to those dreams, and we would see them either sold or loaned out multiple times and never seen again hint hint… (Marko Marin, van Aanholt, Victor Moses).
Higuain is a great player, but there is not the room for him at Chelsea with the Falcao deal looking so imminent.
