At the beginning of the month we brought you the news that Italian side Juventus were interested in signing Alex. Well according to reports today that move looks as though it could well be happening sooner rather than later.
Representatives from Italy have been in London over the past few days and reports in today’s Sun Newspaper suggest that a deal is close to completion with a sum of £7.5million set to change hands.
Alex is a player who still has plenty to offer Chelsea, and he still has two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge. He is big and strong, and he is capable of scoring is fair share of goals from defence. Many Chelsea fans will be disappointed to see him go, especially for such a small fee in the current climate, while many will see it as good business because he was injured for the most part of last season.
Chelsea may of course be reluctant to let him now, due to the fact that David Luiz is injured and the current squad does appear to be short on defensive cover as manager AVB has continued to search for attacking midfield players.
