Chelsea played their fourth game of pre-season yesterday hoping to improve on their previous three 1-0 victories. Frank Lampard scored the first of four goals in a comprehensive 4-0 victory over the Thai Premier League All Stars XI a performance that Lampard described as a step up.
On scoring his first goal of the season Lampard said, “It is nice for your confidence, it is nice to get off the mark in pre-season, and more importantly it is about trying to get in shape at this stage so we are ready for Stoke in a few weeks.”
In his time at Chelsea Lampard has played mainly on the left side of midfield, but Andre Villas-Boas has switched him to the right since his arrival at the club. If pushed he would prefer to play on the left, but when asked about his new role he said, “I think I can play right and play different ways. Of course you do adapt your play depending on who is around you, the type of players they are.”
Lampard has played 509 career games at Chelsea and scored 170 goals, and Chelsea fans will not mind whether he plays on the left or the right as long as he keep his goal scoring record going once the new season starts in less than three weeks time.
Lamps has been down for several time en let us stop pretending that by scoring one goal he is now inorder. Believe me or not, this guy will never regain his form en opinion is meant to shortchange the idea the he should be benched.
Noboby can continue to shun out excellent performance forever. Lamps is not the Lamps we used to know some 3, 4 years ago and not realising that has cost all the previous managers their jobs and Chelsea easy titles.
Younger players – Nasri, Fabregas, Modrick, Wilshere, Nani are better midfielders than Lamps of today.
Chelsea, be wise
At the age of 32, Lampard has had his days, it’s time to build the team around our younger players. KTBFFH
^^ what a fake fan. a REAL Chelsea fan would keep Lamps on that field. Goalscoring record speaks for itself. best midfielder we’ve got.
I believe you,lampard can neva regain his strength again as a midfielder.I jst hope nd pray chelsea buy 2 creative midfielder.Coz playerz like lampard will stil mess up
@tarquine
I do not believe you brother 🙂 lol funny
Let Chelsea sign in Pastore /Lukaku / Modric.. we will continue to mould Josh McEachran, Kakuta, Bruma,..etc
I think it is time lampard give way to the young players because, he is aging and also becos of the new manager that is why he is doing that. he will depreciate when the real competition starts.
Our technical team/the owner should try as much as possible to go in for lukaka, Luka mo, pastore as well as adam johnson because Lampard, Essien, Drogba cannot give more than what they have already shown to us.
@Elijah
What do you mean Essien? He’s only 28. And keep lamps on the field, he’s still miles ahead of most midfielders in the premier league, including that old contest with Gerrard. He’s amazing and I will be so saddened the day he retires
