The Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is happy that the team is playing well, but still thinks they can get better, after Bolton made them work very hard up until half-time.
He wants the form to continue and open up a gap at the top, and says that every game is a big game at the moment.
‘It was very good, I think we had to work very hard early on. Considering the result midweek I think we knew Bolton would start very strong, they put us under pressure and played well,” Lampard said.
“It was always going to be a different game, we were playing away so it was more difficult and there were some big players for them, Kevin Davies up front, so we had to battle our way through whereas we had it all our own way on Wednesday. Today we had to work harder for it and credit to us that we did.
“We had to wait until just before half-time to get our reward when Didi was through, it was a penalty, and unfortunately nowadays that’s a red card. Once the penalty went in and we were 1-0 up you always fancied us to come out and win the game.
“We’re playing well as a unit. Clean sheets are a testament to the whole team defending well and the goals show we are playing well. Aston Villa was a game we were disappointed to lose, we had a word with ourselves and wanted to bounce back instantly and we’ve certainly done that.”
“We know there are big games all over, we are going well in the Champions League and go into that with a good state of mind, and then Man United and I don’t think anyone has to work hard to get up for that one,” Lampard continued.
“We all know it’s coming and we will try to put a bit of space between us and them at the top. There is always room for improvement, I think we are in good form but any moment of slack and that form will quickly go away, so we’ll keep trying to improve.”
It would be great to have a big lead in the Premiership before we lose Drogba and Co when they go to the African Nations Cup.
Keep it up lads!
