Latest Chelsea Injury News On Hazard, Danny Drink & Likely Line Up For Qarabag

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has ahead of Chelsea’s UEFA Champions league clash vs Qarabag later tonight provided the latest Chelsea injury news update. The Italian speaking to pressmen few hours ago provided an update on one of the Blues’ summer signings Danny Drinkwater.

The Englishman who was signed on a deadline day signing from Leicester City is yet to play for Chelsea since joining due to a reported Thigh injury. Although Drinkwater was an unused substitute in last weekend’s game against his former club, it appears he has suffered yet another injury blow. A news that most Chelsea fans will surely not be happy with especially as the club paid £35million to sign him from Leicester City few days ago.

Conte revealed during his press conference that the midfielder is now suffering from a problem to a muscular issue in his calf. The Italian went further to confirm that the club is working to get to the root of the problem. Could it be a long term chronic problem? I really hope not.

Conte also confirmed that he will be rotating his squad for the clash against Qarabag which makes a lot of sense especially as Chelsea will be playing host to Arsenal on Sunday. The indication is that the likes of Victor Moses, Caballero, Michy and Willian could play against Qarabag.

Hazard is one player I would like to see tonight but it appears Conte is trying to ease him into the team after a long time out due to injury. And that certainly makes sense especially as the Belgian is one of our key players. His injury situation needs to be properly managed as I expect him to be a key player for Chelsea this season if we are to have a chance of winning the title and doing well in the Champions league if not win it.

No disrespect to Qarabag but I think with Arsenal coming up next weekend, we should be playing some of the youngsters and finge players. A look at betting odds at betting sites such as netbet.co.uk shows Chelsea is odds on to win this game and rightly so. Our second strings plus a couple of experienced players such as Willian, Christensen, Moses, Zappacosta and maybe Azpilicueta should be good enough to beat Azerbaijanis.

However, Chelsea needs to start their champions league campaign on a winning note this season if they want to stand a chance of getting to the second round. This is especiially so as Atletico Madrid and AS Roma who are the other teams in our group are not small teams. A win at home against Qarabag and winning all our home games will be key in topping the group.
