Leverkusen determined to keep top-class striker until the summer despite Chelsea interest

Bayer Leverkusen will again turn down any offers for Andre Schurrle in January, according to the Sunday People.

Leverkusen are determined to keep the German striker until the end of the season, to help with the club’s fight for Champions League qualification.

The German side currently sit 2nd in the Bundesliga, 9 points behind Bayern Munich in 1st.

Chelsea had a bid for the 22 year-old turned down in the summer, and Roman Abramovich is said to be a keen admirer of the striker.

Chelsea will be in the hunt for at least one striker in January, with Daniel Sturridge set to join Liverpool as soon as the small details are ironed out.

The Blues have sent scouts to watch Schurrle in recent weeks, and it is thought that the players style of play will fit in with the current Chelsea philosophy on the pitch.

Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are both known to be interested in the young striker, and may battle Chelsea for the players signature in the sumemr.

Chelsea need to bring in somebody who can keep Fernando Torres on his toes, because he is still lacking in consistency. Torres has failed to impress in Chelsea’s last 3 games now, including an 8-0 drubbing of Aston Villa, where he was gifted a goal by some good work from Eden Hazard.

I would love to see Demba Ba and Radamel Falcao arrive, then Torres can do as he likes…
