Liverpool confirm Daniel Sturridge's arrival from Chelsea

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea today for an undisclosed fee.

Sturridge had long been expected to make this move, and expect to see Chelsea confirm the signing of Demba Ba in the next 24 hours in his place.

The 23 year-old England squad member said: “I’m humbled and happy to be here. I’ve not signed here to play for a couple of years and then move on.

“I’ve signed to be here for as long as possible. It’s a humongous club, for me, one of the biggest in the world.

“To have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing.”

Daniel Sturridge has missed most of this season through injury, and when fit, has failed to make an impact this season.

Daniel was expected to play a big part for Chelsea this season after his 12 goals scored last year, but failed to command much game time under either Roberto Di Matteo or Rafael Benitez.

Sturridge’s fee is reported to be around £13M, which will prove to be good business for Chelsea should they replace him with Demba Ba for around £10M (including agent fees) as expected. Its a shame Sturridge failed to continue his form from last season but I wish him well at Liverpool. Good luck qualifying for Europe…
