Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that Liverpool can sign Daniel Sturridge in January, and is hoping that new interim Chelsea boss has no idea’s to utilise the players ability.
Sturridge has struggled to break into the Chelsea first team this season, and the Liverpool boss has made the England squad member his main January target.
Rafa Benítez could complicate matters if he intends to utilise Sturridge more than his predecessor Roberto Di Matteo, although talks are already rumoured to have taken place between the clubs and it may be too late for the new manager to influence the decision.
“You never know when new managers go into clubs, but we will see what happens over the course of the market for us,” said Rodgers.
“Hopefully we can get a few in. Obviously Ian Ayre has been dealing with transfer stuff in the background and doing a great job along with the recruitment team.”
With Chelsea striker Fernando Torres struggling for goals, Chelsea are being heavily linked with a host of strikers such as Radamel Falcao, Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez just to name a few. The thoughts of letting our only other striking option go is somewhat unlikely before replacements have been recruited, and with Sturridge continually struggling with his fitness and various injuries it might be good business to sell the forward. But who will we replace him with?
Sturridge is a good guy I Wish Him D Best Of Luck
