Liverpool Still Nurse Hope of Beating Chelsea to Salah’s Signature

Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers does not feel Mohammed Salah to Chelsea is a done deal yet and is hoping to beat the Blues to the signature of the Egyptian international midfielder before the transfer window shuts.

Sensing the desire of the Kops to cupper the player’s move to Stanford Bridge; Jose had in his conference urged the club to seal the deal as soon as possible to avoid any last minute hitch.

The Liverpool manager in an interview with the BBC Sport said:

“The window is not closed yet so we haven’t given up on him, no,” the manager told the BBC Sport.

“Salah was a player we’re interested in and we hoped we could do a deal but as of yet there is nothing done on it,” he added.

“The club is still looking for players we can bring in to strengthen the squad.

“It is a difficult market in January so we’ll see what happens. If nothing comes in then the players I have been outstanding for me this season and we’ll enter into the final part of it with confidence if we have the same group of players.”

Though, a lot of strange happenings have been reported in the past when players refused to put pen to paper for a club they have had medical with, only to do so with another. Just last summer, Willian who was reported to have undergone a medical and was set to sign for Tottenham suddenly had a change of mind and later signed for Chelsea.

One can only hope that this deal goes through considering the fact that we have already lost Mata, who is one of our star players last season to Man United. Salah is an Egyptian international who until now was a player of FC Basel of Switzerland.

The 21 year old midfielder is set to be the second signing of the Blues this January transfer window; and is expected to replace the outgoing Mata, who is on his way to Man United. His potential signature will give Chelsea more options on the wings, and is likely to boost our title winning hopes.
