Lyon's Gomis happy to be linked with 'big name' like Chelsea

Bafetimbi Gomis admitted to French press that he was flattered by Chelsea and Liverpool’s interest in him, but refused to get carried away.

The French striker said: ‘I’m happy, but if it is for my interest, and the three parties are okay and I can progress, then yes. The interest is flattering.

‘These are big names in Liverpool and Chelsea, but I do not pollute my mind with the idea of a departure. Anything can go very quickly in football.’

Chelsea are said to be in talks with Lyon over a move in January, and have sent scouts to watch the striker a number of times. Liverpool reportedly had scouts watch him play against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, as did Chelsea.

The 27 year-old has scored 10 goals so far in his 17 appearances, and is likened to the Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.

Chelsea have been linked with numerous forwards over the past month, and Roman Abramovich is likely to do all he can to sign Radamel Falcao in January.

Falcao has an impressive goalscoring record, for each team he has played for, and currently has 16 goals in his 15 La Liga appearances this term. He also netted a hat-trick to defeat Chelsea in the European Super Cup.

I don’t believe Chelsea will follow up their interest into Gomis, not unless they fail in their attempts to sign Falcao, Higuain and Mario Gomes in January. Chelsea are seeking a dominant striker, a world-beater, and I wouldn’t put Gomis into that category. Do you?
