Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is eyeing up a move for Ashley Cole, whose contract is set to run out in the summer.
The England left-back has failed to agree a contract with Chelsea currently, and will be looking for a new club come July if no deal is made.
Ex-Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti had been favourite for his signature at Paris Saint-Germain, but his job has come under threat recently.
It is claimed that if Carlo was to be sacked, then Man City would become favourites for the 31 year-old’s signature.
Man City left-backs Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov have failed to cement their places in the first-team this season, and Roberto Mancini is set to be growing frustrated with the situation.
Chelsea also look set to lose Frank Lampard next summer. Reports suggest Frank and Ashley have both been offered a one-year extension, but are holding out for 2-year contracts.
I would hate to see Ashley Cole playing for Manchester City. I know Chelsea should not let him leave but he could choose another destination. If he wasn’t loyal to Arsenal, I don’t expect him to snub City for Chelsea’s sake. Could be painful…
