The QPR manager Mark Hughes is adamant that his team should have got at least a draw from yesterday’s FA Cup tie against Chelsea, but Juan Mata’s penalty sealed Chelsea’s qualification for the next round.
Daniel Sturridge went down in the box after a tussle with Clint Hill in the QPR penalty area, and Hughes thinks that the referee will regret his decision after he watches the replays.
“If Mike Dean watches it again he will see that Daniel Sturridge has gone down very easily and unfortunately the referee has given a foul,” Hughes said.
“The referee will be disappointed with that decision because no way was it a penalty.
“We worked exceptionally hard, had good shape and good discipline. Unfortunately, the penalty came when we were having our best period in the game in an attacking sense and it really took the wind out of our sails.”
chelsea have been rewarded with a home tie against Birmingham City, but they are going to have to rediscover their ability to find the back of the net if they are going to actually win anything this season.
