At the beginning of the month we brought you the news that Chelsea were interested in signing Raul Meireles from Liverpool, well according to a report in today’s Daily Mail they are now considering a move for the Portuguese International.
Liverpool are one club that have not shied away from selling top players to their nearest rivals, having already sold Yossi Benayoun and Fernando Torres to Chelsea in the last two transfer windows.
Kenny Dalglish is willing to sell Meireles, as he has a surplus of midfielders after his summer spending spree, and he could do with the funds as he is desperately trying to strengthen his defence.
Meireles is a popular figure amongst Liverpool supporters, and he is also well known to Chelsea boss AVB. It is no secret that Chelsea are after creative midfielders, and they have been linked with almost every player in world football it seems at one point or another during the summer.
Having been successful with two bids on Liverpool players in past transfer windows, it remains to be seen if Chelsea will be successful with a third.
