Monterrey coach ahead of Chelsea clash: "I believe we can win.”

Monterrey coach Victor Manuel Vucetich told reporters he believes his side can beat Chelsea ahead of tomorrows World Club Cup semi-final.

The Mexican was shocked to see Chelsea sack their manager so soon after winning the Champions League, saying:: “I was very much surprised that the coach was suddenly changed, They’d played under one coach to win the Champions League, but he’s not here. That happens in football.

“But Rafa Benitez is very well known and has much experience in international matches. We are aware of what kind of strategies he takes into games, and we’re always keeping our eyes on the international terrain of football and are pretty confident how to deal with them.

“We have to be well prepared. Chelsea are the No1 club team in the world. In the Premier League, they are a very good team.

“But regardless of that, we want to put in our best performance and play as we always do. This is going to be a new page in the history of our club team.

“Yes, without question, We want to make history. I believe we can win and we will try our best.

“They’re a strong team, physically tough, and very skilful.

“They have Cahill, David Luiz, Ramires, Torres…all over 180cm. Torres is 182cm and the right-back, too, (Ivanovic) is 186cm. So there are some tall players at Chelsea. However, in England the footballers tend to be tall. In this case, Chelsea aren’t too tall as a whole, but they’re very fast and speedy players.

“They have forwards who aren’t so tall, but they’re very fast: Mata, Hazard, Moses are all very fast players, and Torres is a very intelligent player.

“They have very good players at Chelsea. I’m sure they will be scoring goals tomorrow. But we also have very talented players in our team.

“What we’ll do is play the way we need to play: we’ll have a game-plan for tomorrow. We’ll pay them respect, but we want to display the qualities we have in the match. We participate wanting to be champions.”

This Mexican side are no push-overs, but their coach, even though saying he believes they can win, seems as if he expects to lose. We cannot take the team for granted, but we must surely reach the final. Is anybody expecting a close game?
