If a report in the daily mail is anything to go by, Chelsea have been dealt a big blow in their attempt to sign England and Liverpool attacker Raheem Sterling after the Anfield lords re-open talks with the player and his representatives according to daily mail.
According to daily mail, Liverpool are convinced they can get the England international to put pen to paper on a new deal even though the club knows it is going to be a big task after initial negotiations had broken down.
Sterling, 20, had reportedly turned down two initial offers from Liverpool which has seen the player been linked to Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United. Chelsea in particular were said to be keen on taking advantage of the player’s contractual situation to get him. Chelsea’s reported interest was even boosted when yesterday it was reported that the player has put up his house for sale which would ordinarily mean he is certain of leaving Liverpool.
Sterling reported wants as much as £150,000-a-week while Liverpool are only willing to pay £100,000-a-week. Although for a player who is just 20 years old, £150,000-a-week seems too much but if you consider the prices been paid elsewhere, one will not blame the player for making such a demand and should Liverpool not up their offer, I see Chelsea and the rest of the chasing pack offering him what he wants.
