Chelsea are reportedly close to clinching the signature of Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan and a deal looks increasingly the Express understands.

Chelsea are poised to completing the capture of the Brazilian prodigy Nicholas Gaithan. With reports claiming the 19-year-old is in London to finalise a deal.

That’s according to Simon Osborn of Metro, who suggested the 19-year-old will undergo a medical next week and should he pass, he will complete a £4.7 million transfer to the Blues. In the piece, it’s claimed the Atletico Paranaense star is “one of the most exciting young players in Brazil.”

Gaitan has just enjoyed another impressive campaign with the Portuguese giants with his 4 goals and 16 assists in 36 games helping Benfica land the Portuguese Primeira Liga title, but he’s been linked with a move to Chelsea and a deal looks likely in the coming weeks.

Gaitan is predominantly played as a left-sided attacking midfielder but he’s also capable of playing on the right or through the middle, so he’ll give Jose Mourinho plenty of options in attack if he does end up making the move to Stamford Bridge as reports have suggested.
