Fredy Guarin was once sought after by Chelsea in the past transfer window, but the Colombia international turned down the move and opted to remain at the San Siro, but he could yet trigger another bid from the club again as the summer transfer approaches. However, he is currently on Manchester United’s radar as they continue to bolster their squad towards next season’s campaign. Inter Milan are reportedly hoping United will make at least £20 million available for his signature.
Chelsea might also be going for him, as he has the Chelsea style of play, and will be a good pairing with Matic with his box-to-box playing qualities. It isn’t just likely they bid for him at such amount. Mancini was hoping to see his stock rise if he made Colombia’s list for the Copa America, but he was disappointed to see him dropped as the country doesn’t seem to be in dire need of him. He picked up an injury in early May, and his inclusion will be surplus to the squad. The 28 year-old has been an off and on member of the Colombian team since 2006, making just 55 appearances till date. He was part of 2011 Copa America team.
Inter are short of funds as they plan to spend big in the coming transfer window. It was thought Guarin’s making it for the South American tournament might have made him available for sale for a much higher price, but that wouldn’t be happening. With the look of things on ground, he will still likely depart the club for the EPL. His tenacity definitely stands out, and either of Red Devils of Blues will get him, and he will no doubt excel at any. But Chelsea suits his style given his strength, and a bid could be in offing, depending on what fees Inter agrees on.
