Chelsea-target and Italy international, Marco Verratti has ditched the EPL Champions and a host of other Premier League clubs for a Real Madrid move. It is being reported that the midfielder has agreed personal terms with the Galacticos, and is likely to join them come summer. If both PSG and Madrid reach a 36 million-pound transfer fees agreement, then the 22 year-old will be at the Bernabeu next season pocketing 5.1 million pounds a year.
Verratti wasn’t keen about a Chelsea move at any point in time, as when questioned about Chelsea’s interest in having him at the Stamford bridge he replied,
“To see that the big teams of Europe have their eyes on you means you’re doing things right, but I have always said that my priority is to continue
with PSG if they want me. I’m really good at the club and in the city. I’m part of a great project and we want to win the Champions League.”
Arsenal and Manchester United were also linked with the player. His style of play catches Chelsea’s interest, given his performances against them in the last 2 editions of the Champions
League. His game during the round of 16 was instrumental in Chelsea’s exit at the continental games. He played 49 games across all competitions for the French giants in the season, contributing immensely to their title win. Chelsea were probably looking at him as a replacement to the likely-to-depart Oscar. The Brazilian playmaker could be snatched by Juventus come summer, and Chelsea wants a player of top notch quality to fill his shoes. But it doesn’t seem it will be Marco Verratti for now.
