27-year old Chelsea center back, Papi Djilobodji is set to leave Chelsea on loan and Marseille might just be his Lucky destination. According to reports, the 6ft 4 tall CB has agreed personal terms with OM and may undergo medicals next week if both Chelsea and OM can reach an agreement.
The defender who arrived from Lille this summer have not been able to establish himself. The Senegalese international have not appeared in the league this season.
His only appearance was in the league cup where he came in as a late substitute in the match against Walsall. According to Daily Star via Foot Mercato, Marseille head coach, Magarita Louis-Dreyfus is interested in signing Djilobodji on loan with an option of making the deal permanent should he impress during the loan spell.
The report also claims that the London club are willing to let the defender go, as they are in search of better defenders in a bid to strengthen their defence. Chelsea have suffered a disastrous season after winning the league. The defending champions are 15th on the log, a rather unusual position. Their defence have not been any better.
The dismal defending have seen them concede 27 times this season and Djilobodji doesn’t seem like an answer to any of Chelsea’s numerous problems. The best option for the Senegalese may just be a move away from Chelsea, and Marseille wont be a bad destination.
